Enjoy the Silence
I have intentionally built-in pockets of silence in my playlists for as long as I can remember. As a new teacher choosing to play music in your classes, managing it while teaching to a room full of bodies and breath is a whole thing.

No Mud. No Lotus.
I had a strong misconception about the practice – and I’m not even sure where it came from. “Fruffy” is the word I used to describe it back then. Equally so – I don’t even know where I acquired the knowledge that the poses would challenge my compromised nervous system and the wavering balance issues I was experiencing.
The Thing Behind The Thing
I went to surf camp in Mexico this May.
It was something I had always wanted to do.
I prepared extensively prior to my trip.
I watched videos on how to properly stand up on a surfboard. I purchased a balance board so I would have a sense of stability on the waves. I listened to podcasts and I attended more yoga classes than I typically do. In the end, the steps I took to prepare mattered very little.

Miracle on Treasure Beach
I have an earnest and firm belief that no action is too small.
Be it a genuine and positive thought, an unrequited and discreet gesture of kindness or, yogicly speaking, an engaged and locked bandha.
*(For non-yogi readers: engaging a bandha speaks to subtly activating certain muscles which contribute to harnessing and containing of the energy one is expending in doing so. These actions ultimately create a greater stability and vitality throughout the body. Hashtag -iykyk)

The Warrior Mind
I attempted to inhale but the room was so steamy I thought I was in the jungle.
With sweat burning its way into my eyes and splashing onto the floor, my front thigh trembling, I thought about giving up; and then, it happened.

SATYA: Practicing Truth
Yoga is transformative; just ask any committed practitioner.
It changes your body, yes. But the real benefit is much deeper than that.
